When your life brings you down, your hobbies bring you up 😊
I do not have much free time and I have quite a list of hobbies. I try to find time for my hobbies whenever possible.

Yoga
Yoga is all about physical posture, breathing techniques, meditation, and relaxation. I started to take Yoga lessons at the Open University in 2017. It has been only few years since I started my new hobby. Started doing yoga changed me immensely. Whenever I'm stressed out I do some yoga poses which is relaxing at the same time increasing my flexibility. As a result of yoga classes, I managed to meet a new group of friends at the university.
I'm on the journey of working on strengthening my muscles and increasing the stamina with yoga.
Dancing
This is a new hobby that I started very recently, at the beginning of 2020.
I am on the journey of learning the basics of Jive, Rumba, and Waltz.
Swimming
I had an irrational fear of getting into the water. I went white water rafting in 2018 as a result of one of the outbound training organized by the university. With the help of my friends, I managed to overcome the fear of water there. Taking a few swimming lessons I realized my fear for water was for nothing and I enjoy the experience and the relaxation. I am happy about the conscious decision taken and it was proven that you can learn a skill starting at any age if you have the passion and the dedication.
Travel & Nature
I am a person with a passion for travel. I love to visit religious destinations, historical places, museums, especially nature. I consider spending time with nature as a reset button for myself. Nature makes us forget about the hustle we go through in our day to day lives.
Cooking
Cooking is fun if you have a passion for cooking. Cooking is simple but if you are doing it as a hobby you will find out there are plenty of things to learn. I do not think one lifetime is enough to learn all these.
Learning about cooking involves;
- types of cooking involved
- how to shop for the ingredients
- the utensils and supplies you
- doing everything from scratch
- recovering from a missing step
- learning about room temperature
Cooking is one skill that helped me to improve my creativity and patience.
Sewing
I decided to take up sewing classes in 2013 when I started to wear Sarees to the university. I had never sewed before. Started with taking a few classes but ended up taking a diploma in dressmaking. I wish I have all the free time with me so that I can try sewing all the fancy garments I see in the showrooms. I sew my own Saree jackets. Except for that, I wear ready-made garments.
This is another hobby that keeps me teaching patience, complete the task to perfection, attention to detail, and creativity.
