• Secretary of the Colombo ACM SIGCHI Chapter from Jan 2020 – Present

Colombo ACM SIGCHI Chapter is formed to help the community to educate, promote and advance human-computer interaction locally and around the globe. Specially in the developing regions, local chapters often serve as the first front to promote HCI education, research and practice. 

• Vice President - Public Relations of  the Open University Toastmasters Club from July 2020 – June 2021
• Vice President - Public Relations of  the University of Moratuwa Toastmasters Club from July 2020 – June 2021

Responsibilities :

• coordinating active public relations and publicity program in the club
•  establishing and maintaining lines of communication between the club and its members, as well as between the club and the public
• increase awareness of Toastmasters through the local news and social media.

By holding this position I got an opportunity to acquire a new skill set as given below.

• Creating a marketing plan
• Develop and implement marketing projects
• Designing flyers using Canva

I believe this skill set is important to any professional and I will be able to use it in my profession.

Responsibilities:

• creating the meeting schedule for speakers, evaluators, and other roles
• encourage members to work on advanced manuals and projects
• running a mentor program: assign and supervise
• setting goals with members
• conducting training for membership
• act as the right hand to club president when setting up and implementing a club success plan
• keep track of the club's Distinguished Club Program status

Working as a team, taking lead whenever it's necessary, motivate others to achieve their goals, and thereby to achieve the club goals are few skills that I can apply in working with the students in my profession.
